Cynthia Ragland is seeking re-election for the Church Clerk position.
I have been an active member of First Baptist Church since 1980. I have served as Sunday School Superintendent, Vacation Bible School Director, Co-Chair of the 140th Church Anniversary, and as Youth Leader for the Angelic Youth Group. I also currently serve as President of the Marshall D. Williams Ministry, Secretary of the Area Health and Wellness Ministry and a member of the Women’s Ministry. I thank God for the opportunity to serve as Church Clerk.
Marion Carter is seeking re-election for the Assistant Church Clerk position. Marion began her career at AT&T in February 1970 where she held numerous positions from Clerk typist to Executive Secretary and Program/Project Manager until her retirement in February 1998. Along the way, she completed the Executive Secretarial program at The Washington School for Secretaries and a Master’s Certificate in Project Management from George Washington University.
Deaconess Carter married the love of her life, Sonny Carter in September 1972. They were married at Paramount Baptist Church in Washington where Sonny soon gave his life to Christ and was baptized by the late Rev. Aaron McComb. They are the proud parents of two daughters, Chanise Vick (Dwight) and Rachelle Carter. They are also
proud grandparents of Sydney, Isaiah and Lauryn Vick.
In addition to serving as Assistant Church Clerk, she is also a member of the Culinary ministry, Greeter’s ministry and Women’s ministry. She holds the position of Secretary for the Women’s ministry, Deaconess Ministry and the National Council of Negro Women.
Marion delights in serving the Lord and serving others. Her favorite scripture is, Proverbs 3:5-6…”Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path”.
Sharil A. “Shay” Bowens is seeking election for the Assistant Church Clerk position. Shay retired from AT&T in November 2024 with 35 years of service. While there she thrived in many capacities including Cell Tower Revenue Management, Executive Administration, Domestic & International billing of Broadband Forbearance, Software Defined Networks and Enterprise-level Telecommunications. She served in supervisory roles in Human Resources, Project Management and Process Development. She was even a Bargaining Team Member on several contract negotiations between AT&T and the Communication Workers of America (CWA) union.
Prior to the pandemic, Shay was elected President of the National Council of Negro Women (NCNW) Northern VA Section, where she served two terms and successfully managed multiple fundraising activities to grant scholarships to deserving black & brown students from local communities.
She’s also been the Assistant Treasurer to the FBC Women’s Ministry. She enjoys a healthy balance of self-care and being in service to others, like going on mission trips with FBC Manassas. She became a member of FBC in March 2011 and credits her time spent in worship & fellowship as an essential source of spiritual fulfillment, which allows her to maintain her overall emotional & psychological well-being.
Her favorite scripture is Romans 8:37-39 (KJV) and is often heard saying…,” Thank God, I don’t look like what I’ve been through.”
Aaron Burrell is seeking re-election for the Church Treasurer position.
Aaron Burrell has a BS degree in Physics from Virginia State University (VSU). He has been employed for over 40 years as a Senior Emission Security (EMSEC) Engineer, performing Engineering, Program Management and Budget services for several large government contracts. He has served as First Baptist Church Treasurer for over 40 years, managing Church Financial accounts and performing Payroll and Budget services.

Wilbur Rollins is seeking re-election for the Assistant Church Treasurer position.
My name is Wilbur Rollins; I have a BS Degree in Business Admin/Accounting and have worked in Accounting /Finance at NOVEC since 1989. I have been the Treasurer at Nokesville Fire and Rescue since 2004. I have also formerly served as the Treasurer of Toastmaster’s clubs in Andalusia, AL and Manassas, VA) as well as for Accounting Professionals’ Associations.
Deborah Sykes is seeking re-election for the Church Financial Secretary position.
Deborah has been a member of First Baptist Church for over 25 years. She currently serves as a Deaconess (Treasurer), the church Financial Secretary, and is on the Finance Committee. She has served as the church Asst. Fin.Sec. and Treasurer of the Women’s Ministry. Deborah is the current Treasurer of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Omicron Chi Omega Chapter and previously served as Treasurer for the Ivy Foundation of Greater Prince William County.
