Captain Allen West of the Prince William County Adult Detention Center (ADC) is requesting volunteers (Male and Female) to work/staff their resource desk to support their Re-entry Services Program for Inmates.
The program is designed to assist released inmates who may need basic services to help them successfully assimilate back into society. These services include assistance with temporary housing (vouchers), food, clothing, transportation program's information, any Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) requirements, phone calls, and assistance connecting with various Local and State Government Agencies designed to provide similar assistance, as well as churches and or non-profits offering help.
Volunteers are needed to "Work/staff" the Re-entry Program desk and to interact with inmates released after the police department's normal duty hours (M-F 5pm – 8pm) and weekends (Sat-Sun 7am – 9am) at the ADC. Volunteers will be notified if no inmates are scheduled for release during the applicable hours and the volunteer desk will not be required to be staffed.
To participate, all volunteers must be screened, and a background check conducted, as well as attend an orientation training session by Capt. West. If volunteers have already been cleared or attended prior training, they will only need to be identified by FBC, and they can be added to a roster of volunteers.

To provide youth opportunities to study scripture and grow as Christians, The Christian Ed Ministry will hold Youth Discipleship Hour (YDH) for two Sundays in October. We look forward to seeing your children and teenagers on 3rd Sunday, October 15th and 5th Sunday, October 29th in the historic Sanctuary. The Pastor will dismiss students in grades K-12 to YDH at the appropriate time during worship service.
The YDH will include scriptures, lessons based on the Sunday School focus for that Sunday, music, and the learning of basic Bible/Christian teachings that will sustain our children for a lifetime.

To increase the capacity of those trained to respond to a person with a mental health or substance use crisis in our community, the Mental Health Association is covering the cost of certifying one or two members of your church or congregation. A member of our staff will facilitate four hybrid meet-ups to engage in discussion of the content and how to implement what is learned in your faith community. To register, please get approval from your pastor and be sure you can commit to completing the course. Completion will require an internet connection to watch self-paced video modules and participation in discussion groups, either in person or by Zoom. The Education Aid Ministry is pleased to announce that the recognition of FBC High School and College graduates will be held on Sunday, June 9, 2024.
High School graduates are asked to complete the FBC High School Graduate Recognition and Scholarship Application by March 15, 2024. The application and scholarship eligibility information are available at: https://forms.gle/TiA3PLuqsE1Bn1xi6.
Those graduating with degrees other than a high school diploma (i.e., Associates, Bachelors, Masters, graduate certificates, etc.) for the following semesters: Summer 2023, Fall/Winter 2023 and Spring 2024, we ask that you submit your graduation information using the following form: https://forms.gle/z9xzRCoo2Gfa76WP6 by Monday, April 15, 2024.
Information about the FBC HS Graduate Luncheon will be shared in the coming weeks.

VBS 2024 will offer something for everyone, from pre-school to adults; and during this session, we will hold a very special Juneteenth Celebration which will align with our Sankofa emphasis and the VBS 2024 focus on embracing a "heroic" faith.
