Celebrate Recovery

You’re probably just like many others who struggle with a hurt, habit or hang-up. Perhaps there’s something that’s controlling your life? You’re not alone! Highpoint’s Celebrate Recovery program is the place for you to find lasting recovery! This Bible-based recovery program can help you find freedom from life–long struggles such as codependency, past hurts, or any struggle or addiction. Celebrate Recovery is a safe place for sincerity and genuine acceptance.

 

The purpose of Celebrate Recovery is to fellowship and celebrate God’s healing power in our lives through the “8 Recovery Principles.” This experience allows us to “Be changed.” We open the door by sharing our experiences, strengths, and hopes with one another. In addition we become willing to accept God’s grace in solving our lives’ problems. By working and applying these Biblical principles, we begin to grow spiritually. We become free from our addictive, compulsive, and dysfunctional behaviors. This freedom creates peace, serenity, joy and most importantly, a stronger personal relationship with God and others. As we progress through the program we discover our personal, loving and forgiving Higher Power – Jesus Christ, the one and only true Higher Power.

 

Weekly Friday Night Meetings:

6:15 – 7:00 – Dinner together

7:00 – 8:00 – Lesson or Testimony

8:00 – 9:00 – Gender specific open share groups

9:00 – 9:30 – Coffee and Dessert

What do you do when…

…the divorce papers have been served and the bottom falls out of your life. …the last child honks the horn and drives away—and the house suddenly seems incredibly empty. …you arrive home following the funeral service and the emotions you’ve held at bay come crashing in on you. …the relationship has ended but the wounds are still bleeding and painful. …the doctors have said, “There’s nothing more we can do.” …the door has slammed shut for the very last time. …the phone call you dreaded most happened. …you realized the hands on the gold watch you received at your retirement party move more slowly than you ever imagined. …the nursing home director shakes your hand and says, “Welcome to your new home.” …the gavel goes down, the handcuffs go on, and your loved one is led away. …the baby has arrived, putting more demands on you than you ever dreamed possible. …you find the pink slip inserted with what is now your final paycheck. …your loved one cannot remember who you are. …your life is in transition and you feel overwhelmed with choices and responsibilities.

 

We want to help

You may need short term care to get through temporary situations that have caused you grief or anxiety; the loss of a job, illness of self or family member, maybe the loss of a spouse, child or close friend. You may be in need of long term care. For instance being confined at home or in hospitals, or nursing homes with long term disabilities or illnesses.

 

Stephen ministers are specially trained to use listening, process oriented tools to aid in recovery and acceptance, working with you toward spiritual and practical goals. Stephen Ministers receive over 50 hours of training and spend many more hours in special peer supervisions sessions where the minister can become refreshed and be guided through methods how to better serve you (always with the strictest confidentiality of the care receiver being maintained).

GriefShare

 

GriefShare is a friendly, caring group of people who will walk alongside you through one of life’s most difficult experiences. You don’t have to go through the grieving process alone. Highpoint is partnering with New Hope Baptist to provide this course in 2019!

How GriefShare works

It may be hard for you to feel optimistic about the future right now. If you’ve lost a spouse, child, family member, or friend, you’ve probably found there are not many people who understand the deep hurt you feel. This can be a confusing time when you feel isolated and have many questions about things you’ve never faced before. “Going to GriefShare feels like having warm arms wrapped around you when you’re shivering.” GriefShare groups meet weekly to help you face these challenges and move toward rebuilding your life. Each GriefShare session has three distinct elements:

 

Video seminar with experts

Each week your GriefShare group will watch a video seminar featuring top experts on grief and recovery subjects. These videos are produced in an interesting television magazine format featuring expert interviews, real-life case studies, dramatic reenactments, and on-location video.

 

Support group discussion with focus

After viewing the video, you and the other group members will spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week’s video seminar and what is going on in your lives.

 

Personal study and reflection

During the week you will have the opportunity to use your workbook for further personal study of the grieving process and to help sort out your emotions through journaling. Your group will spend time discussing questions and comments from the workbook study.

 

Who should come … who should not

GriefShare is for people grieving the death of a family member or friend. We understand that there are other losses in life that create feelings of grief. You might be experiencing a job loss, a divorce, estrangement from a child, or the loss of friends because of a move. This grief is real, but it is not the kind of grief discussed in GriefShare sessions. We encourage you to ask a pastor, counselor, or church leader for help in finding resources that will be of specific help in your situation. If you are going through separation or divorce, please consider participating in a DivorceCare program.

 

When to join a GriefShare group

You are welcome to begin attending the GriefShare group at any session. Each is “self-contained,” so you do not have to attend in sequence. You will find encouragement and help whenever you begin. You will be able to continue with GriefShare through the next 13-week cycle and view any of the videos you have not seen.
